The DarckSIDE deck - Lucas Allen (WriHen review)

The cover looks promising, has a variety of different cards and makes you think of the possibilities. the package comes with; The DVD, One DarkSIDE deck (another can be bought or made), and One marker pen. The DVD teaches just a few tricks showing how the DarckSIDE principle works. the cover may show lots of fancy looking cards, however only three of the cards shown are used in the DVD. the others are there to give inspiration, and they have inspired me to create my own effects using the deck. because you mark the cards with the pen, you can only use one deck for each trick, I chose to mark my deck for the "this is it" trick. And this is how it looks.

Go through the deck and ask a spectator to name any card they see.

Lets say the King of Spades.
Place the king down on the table.

Tell them, there is one card they were bound to pick.

Turn over the card they named to reveal...

...The card they picked is the only card with a different marking, and "This is it"

Lucas teaches two handling techniques; Easy deck prep, and Complex deck prep. Both can be used to achieve fantastic effects. On the DVD Lucas teaches each trick and the preps to detail. He also shows how to make your own DarckSIDE deck. the deck is fantastic for card magicians and mentalists. not only does he teach the effects and how to make your own deck. He also gives tips on marking the cards using other marker pens for different coloured back decks, and stamps to stamp decks. The principle for the DarkSIDE deck is quite ingenious and I can't believe it hasn't been thought of before to do these types of tricks.

Thanks for reading my first review, and I hope you find it useful.

WriHen Live for children and need

So a few months ago I was asked by the pupils in my year to appear in the anuall Children in need show, doing a trick or two. Every year the sixth year pupils put on three shows with comedy and other randomness for the rest of the school. this year was my years turn. I decided to do two tricks 'Brain Damage' and another trick I like to call 'funny faces'. I went on stage in front of three hundred 1st and 2nd year pupils. they cheered and they laughed. I started with 'funny faces' witch was not to my expectations. I lifted my jacket up covering my face each time I lowered the jacket either something was on my head, in my ear, up my nose, or in my mouth. After a few laughs and claps, I moved on to perform 'Brain Damage' witch was a hit. The music was exciting and fitted perfectly, I placed the wine box over my head and proceeded to poke hockey stick into the box, sureley penetrating my head. From inide the box I heard the crowd - "WOW!" and "WOOO!", I felt so happy that they were enjoying the trick, It calmed my nerves. I was now standing in front of three hundred people with a box on my head and three hockey sticks plunging through me. I reversed the procces and began to remove the hockey sticks and drop them to the ground. I removed the box, waved bye to the audiance and was cheered off the stage. I walked up the corridor out side of the hall, passing a few teachers one said to me "you did great grant" I felt so pleased knowing they had enjoyed my performance, with my head inside the box I couldnt see the expresions on their face's, but the gasps made it all the same. The first show was over I had two more to go. I had a wee break and drank some water to calm me down. Then it was time for me to go on to do my secnd performance. I decided not to do 'funny faces' as I felt It didn't get good reactions (I also hadn't rehearsed). I did 'Brain Damage' and the reactions were still great. when the time came to do the third show, I chickened out and started to feel a bit sick, It was the nerves. The third show was for the 4th and 5th years, they were the closest to my age and I knew a fair bit of them. maybe that is why I chickened out, but I had a good time, got some great reactions and some nice words from the teachers and pupils. However that isn't where it ends. To be concluded... in 'The aftermath of CIN' "what happened next" Untill then, thanks for reading. (And By the way, I'm in school right now, In modern studies, and if the admins have hacked my acount and are seeing this and reading this, they probably have no I dea what I'm on about, I did some magic)

Calling by WriHen

A while ago, while I was on the bus home from school, I was thinking and I had my phone out and was messing around with it. Then I realized the potential of the device in my hand. there was a trick to be had out of this. I wanted someone to dial any 11 numbers and call the randomly generated number. Then My phone would ring, they have just input and called my number (without even knowing me before hand). I then converse with the spectator over the phone. The effect is called calling, It's a really powerful Mentalism effect, and maybe I might release it through some company, not too sure yet. It could be coming soon.

If I do release this, It will be available to buy from my products tab

Refresh by WriHen

Blink and you'll miss it!
I was messing around with my cards the other day, as I do, and I did a move, and it looked quite cool, so I worked on it a little, before showing it to one of my (non-magic) friend/fan. I showed it to her via webcam, and my 'refresh' rate is absolutely crap. but I saw her face light up as I did it, of course she accused it to be a trick using the refresh rate, so I called it 'Refresh', Quite a few others I showed it to accused me of using the refresh rate to mask my actions, and they asked for a better quality version, So I filmed this version, which is a much better smoother version of the trick. Enjoy, here's my created colour change - 'Refresh'.

(BTW; the cards used in this video aren't my own, and I filmed it at a secret location)
